If you are looking for a new way to celebrate Easter, try an egg hunt party. Your child will look forward to this fun filled group holiday activity.

Plan a holiday party that with your children that is packed with costumes, creative play and outdoors activities. Dress your little ones up like bunnies, and ask the neighbors or friends and family to hop on down for a special Easter egg hunt. Add in special treats, craft projects and more for an egg-cellent time.

Easter Party Invitations

Kids can design their own Easter egg hunt party invitations with a few simple arts and crafts materials. You will need 8 x 10 cardstock in a light color, markers, scissors, glue, glitter and Easter themed stickers.

Fold the card stock in half like a book. Draw an oval (Easter egg shape) onto each half. The oval can take up most of the paper. Cut out each egg. Use the markers to write the reason for the party (i.e., Easter Egg Hunt), the address, date, time, and RSVP number or e-mail.

Decorate the rest of the egg, back and front, with marker drawn designs and patterns or Easter themed stickers. For a special effect opt to add glitter with glue. Draw lines with a clear drying, non-toxic school glue and simply sprinkle the glitter on top. Brush off any extra glitter and set aside to dry.

Easter Crafts

Invite the guests to craft their own bunny ear costumes. Make headbands by cutting construction paper into three by eighteen inch strips. Bend the strips into a circle, and measure to fit each child’s head. Tape the strip to together to hold.

Give each guest two six inch long ovals as ears. Provide crayons, markers, cotton balls and glue to decorate the ears. Attach the ears to the headbands with tape.

Easter Egg Hunt Activity

Make the actual egg hunt the main part of the Easter party. Before guests arrive, fill plastic eggs with age appropriate treats, candy or small toys. Hide the eggs in the yard. Make sure to place the eggs in fairly obvious places to ensure that all of the children can find them.

Ask guests to bring their own baskets or make your own. If you choose to make your own, try decorating inexpensive plastic pails with child-safe non-toxic paints and ribbons.

Pick a time to start the hunt and line the children up on a starting line. Count down to the egg hunt and yell, “Start”, “Bunnies go” or, “Happy Easter” to begin.

After the hunt is over, help the children to count their eggs. Give out special prizes such as chocolate eggs or Easter stickers for the most eggs, fastest hunter, or most hops during hunting.

Plan a menu packed with Easter themed selections such as bunny cupcakes, chocolate eggs, or even egg salad.

Other Easter Party Ideas

Involve kids in the food selection and cooking processes. Make sure to match the child’s age, developmental abilities, skill level, and interests to the cooking activities. For example, younger children can help to measure and mix, while teens can actually help out with the cooking processes.

Get ready for a hopping good time this Easter, and plan your own egg hunt party. Kids can make invitations, design their own bunny ears to wear, search for eggs and eat themed treats all while celebrating this special day.
